MPPEB to conduct more exams through online mode: Minister

MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) will soon implement an advanced biometrics system to avoid any fraudulent activities in the examinations, said minister of technical education & skill development and higher education in Madhya Pradesh, Umashankar Gupta on Friday.
While interacting with media persons at an event organized at PEB, Umashankar said that in the near future PEB will conduct more examination through online mode than existing offline mode to bring more transparency and prevent cases of impersonation in the examinations.
“In the year 2015, four online examinations were successfully conducted by the board in which the results were announced in a short period of time. The introduction of online exams has increased the transparency and credibility of the examination system, much to benefit of the students and examinees”, said Umashankar Gupta.
Emphasizing on conducting the examinations online, Gupta said that it not only cuts the chances of fraud or cheating, but also cuts down on human labour and saves paper, thus proving to be an environment friendly way of conducting examination.
“With the implementation of online method in conduction of exams the board was able to save about 93% of paper and cut down 96% of human labour in comparison to offline examinations”, added Gupta.
Benefiting the students and aspiring candidates of examinations conducted by PEB, the board is also soon going to update its existing mobile-app to enable the students and candidates to fill application forms from the app itself, without visiting the kiosks of MP Online. An exam process automation system(EPAS) will also be introduced by the board in the near future so as to make the make the examinations more transparent and glitches-free.
“All the data related to examinations are being stored at state data center which comes under the information and technology department of the Madhya Pradesh government”, said director, PEB, Bhaskar Lakshakar while interacting with the media-persons.
Later during the occasion, six invigilators in the examinations conducted by the PEB were awarded by Umashankar Gupta for catching impersonators in different examinations.
