IGNOU starts postgraduate programmes in media
The School of Journalism and New Media Studies of IGNOU is offering two postgraduate programmes in media called MA in journalism and mass communication and MA in electronic media production and management. These are being offered as full-time, on-campus programmes from the university’s headquarters at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi.
MA in journalism and mass communication focusses on activities such as news gathering, editing etc.
The course structure of the programme is based on Unesco’s model curriculum developed by international experts and is adapted to suit the cultural and social structures and practices of the Indian subcontinent.
MA in electronic media production and management teaches the nitty-gritties of broadcast media.
The uniqueness of the programme is that the students can experience the process of a live studio and production facility at the Electronic Media Production Centre of the university, which produces and airs Gyan Vani and Gyan Darshan and other educational channels and programmes and has modern studios and production facilities supported by highly experienced professionals.
The university also provides a limited number of merit scholarships to the students of both the MA programmes. Admission to both MA programmes is in progress. With only 25 seats in each of the programmes, the admission is based on an entrance test and subsequent interview/group discussion. Graduates with minimum 50% marks are eligible to apply for the entrance test.
The last date for submission of applications for entrance test is June 30.
