Apply online for DU’s applied social sciences and humanities courses

Delhi University’s faculty of applied social sciences and humanities is going to take online applications and issue admit cards for the entrance to various professional programmes for the first time.

The Joint Entrance Examination for their flagship undergraduate degree programmes -- Bachelor of business studies, Bachelor of financial and investment analysis and BA (Hons) business economics is slated for June 6, 2010, in Delhi, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Lucknow. The online registration is scheduled to take place from April 5, to May 4, 2010.

As per official data, on average, 15,000 candidates apply for these programmes.

How about doing welfare work?
In order to make your vacation useful and enriching, spend time working with NGOs. The National Foundation for India is providing such an opportunity to college-level students. They can choose their area of interest — drought management, health facilities, human rights, women’s empowerment, good governance, etc.

These ‘interns’ are placed with welfare organisations for six-eight weeks, and learn more about the underprivileged sections of the society. Each intern is given a stipend of Rs 5,000 for food, accommodation, local travel, etc. At the end of your training you’ll have to submit a report on your activities. The application deadline is April 15. Visit www.nfi.org.in for more details or Call 011-641864/65
