Course in communication and convergence studies
CMS Academy launched a course in Communication and Convergence studies on August 3, 2009 at CMS Research House, Saket. The course is aimed towards developing communication and media experts through excellence in education and research.

This 11-month fulltime, strategic communication programme has been designed in a way to help students understand the functions and opportunities in the diverse field of communications. To add to the students' knowledge and make them aware of the working environment a four-week long internship will also be provided by the institute.

New third edition of The Official Guide to the TOEFL
Educational Testing Service, creator of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), has added a new full-length test to the hundreds of real test questions and essay topics in the latest edition of The Official Guide to the TOEFL Test. PG certificate programmes offered by Reliance World and XLRI Jamshedpur
Reliance World and XLRI Jamshedpur announced the response received from professionals to their recent launch of five postgraduate certificate programmes. The courses are aimed at mid-career executives through virtual classrooms at Reliance World retail outlets in over 40 cities in India. The virtual classroom programmes, powered by video conferencing facilities, have been introduced to enable working professionals/executives across various functions to complete their management education while still in service. The five programmes are postgraduate certification in business management (PGCBM); postgraduate certification in human resource management (PGCHRM); postgraduate certification in logistics and supply chain management(PGLSCM); postgraduate certification in retail management (PGCRM); postgraduate certification in sales and marketing management (PGCSMM)

A candidate who passes out is awarded alumnus status and becomes part of the XLRI Alumni network through a formal graduation ceremony at XLRI's Jamshedpur campus every year. Certificate programme in global business management
University of Maryland University College, U.S. (UMUC), announced its partnership with Hughes Communications to bring a graduate certificate in global business management to students in India.

This programme has been designed with the rapidly changing global economic and business landscape in mind and responds to the worldwide demand for managers with international business expertise.

The programme is structured to prepare students to serve as mid-level managers in a global enterprise, to make sound financial decisions and to effectively manage team members from different countries and cultures and in different locations.

It is suited to the needs of managers already working in global organisations, to entrepreneurs who must fill multiple roles in their own companies, or to mid-level employees who wish to move into management positions or into a different market sector.

The application fee for the programme is US $50. The tuition fee is US $12,567. Transcript evaluations cost US $250.

The last date for submitting the application form is September 1, 2009. The programme runs for one year and on successful completion, students will earn a graduate certificate in global business management from UMUC.

Actuarial science programme in UK
Students interested in taking up a PG programme in actuarial science in a UK university can apply to the University of Southampton. To launch the programme, Dr Sujit Sahu from the University's School of Mathematics will visit Mumbai on August 28.

During his visit, Dr Sahu will raise awareness of the new postgraduate programme in actuarial science, to be launched by the School of Mathematics in October 2009.
Dr Sahu will discuss a variety of scholarships available for international undergraduate students, including the University's Golden Jubilee Scholarships that provide the full value of tuition fees.
