‘Joy of Giving’ week at XLRI
XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, one of the premier B-Schools of the country, brought the Joy of Giving Week , by announcing the JoyFest to be conducted by the institute from September 27 to October 3, 2009. The Joy of Giving Week, an initiative conceptualised by a Mumbai-based NGO GiveIndia, is the beginning of a national movement which aims to celebrate “the act of giving” every year and inculcate it in our ethos. The Joy of Giving Week, to be celebrated nationally from September 27 to October 3 this year, aims to get people from all walks of life together to engage in simple acts of giving from hotels hosting fundraising dinners to common folks donating a few old clothes. This initiative is supported by a wide range of prominent personalities such as Azim Premji, Sachin Tendulkar, Adi Godrej, Sheila Dixit, Sachin Pilot, Rahul Dravid and AR Rahman among many others.
IIT Guwahati's green run
On its eleventh techno management fest, IIT Guwahati invites participants for its green marathon. It will mark the beginning of the college fest known as Techniche on August 30 in Guwahati city where students (including general public) and professionals both can participate. Professionals will have a tough time while they run a stretch of 21 kms and the students would have the luxury to partake a half marathon of eight kms. The inaugural ceremony of the marathon is set to take place at 5.30 am and is expected to be graced by some political biggies.
The interested people can collect forms at one of the many hotspots in the city like Barista, Baskin Robins and also at all the leading hospitals. The filled forms may be deposited at drop-boxes in the above locations. A complete list of registrations centres and hospitals may be found on the website www.techniche.org.
Placement at ICWAI
Notwithstanding the economic slowdown, several companies visited the ICWAI campus for recruitment recently. A CTC of Rs 8.5 lakh per annum in the pre-revised pay scale has been offered to 19 students selected during the two-day placement exercise. A number of companies and PSUs including Power Grid Corporation, IRCTC, IRCON, FCI, Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Vedanata Group), Nestle etc visited the campus for direct recruitment this year. While the average salary during last year’s placement was Rs 4.5 lakh per annum, this year’s average salary went up to Rs.7.2 lakh per annum. The highest offer was Rs. 8.5 lakh CTC in the pre-revised scale.
