Over 800 schools are yet to upload their nursery admission guidelines and criteria despite a war ning from directorate of education (DOE) to notify these by December 25 for the upcoming nursery admissions that begin on January 1.
With only three days left for admissions to start, experts and parents expressed apprehension that schools may upload their guidelines at the last minute leading to confusion among parents. As of Saturday as many as 886 schools out of the total 1,737 had not uploaded their criteria on the DOE website.
“If schools are not uploading their criteria on time then it will create problem for all parents. We won’t get to know criteria before applying but what choice do we have. In the end parents suffer but nobody cares. I have shortlisted around 25-30 schools in my area for my son’s nursery admission,” said Amit Gupta, a parent.
Exper ts said that many schools avoid uploading their criteria till the last moment because once the admissions start not much can be done.
The schools had earlier been asked to upload their criteria, including points for each criterion for admission to entry level classes, other than EWS/ DG category seats, for the academic session 2016-17 on the directorate’s website latest by December 20 after which DOE extended the deadline till December 25.
“Despite two deadlines coming to an end only about 800 schools uploaded their criteria. It shows either schools don’t take DOE seriously or they don’t want to be transparent and disclose their criteria to DOE. Admissions will start on January 1 after which it will become very difficult to take any action,” said Sumit Vohra, who runs an online portal on nursery admissions.
