The Master of Computer Application (MCA) course at Jamia Millia Islamia seems to be a very popular option with students as it has drawn a large number of applications for admissions to the 2010-11 session.
For the 50 seats of on offer by the Department of Computer Science, Jamia has received a total of 3,013 application forms making the competition that much tougher for those seeking admission. Roughly, one in every 60 candidate will make it to the MCA programme.
MCA is a six semester course spread over three years. Admission to this course is made on the basis of merit determined by an entrance test followed by an interview. The entrance test for MCA is scheduled to be held on June 9, 2010.
MCA offers very good career opportunities and majority of students at Jamia get placed during campus interviews.
Some of the premier multi-national companies regularly visit the university campus for placements and have in the past recruited students from Jamia.
These include TCS, HCL, Impetus, JK Techno-soft, Hughes, Aricent, Wipro, Headstrong, Accenture, CSC, Newgen, Tata Infotech among others.
