Chevening Gurukul Scholarship for Leadership and Excellence programme
Chevening Gurukul Scholarship for Leadership and Excellence programme has selected 12 candidates for 2011. The scholars for this year were chosen from about a thousand applicants on the basis of their professional achievements and leadership skills.
The Chevening Gurukul Leadership Programme at the London School of Economics (LSE) is a project specifically for India and is the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office's premium scholarship scheme for India. It has been held at the London School of Economics and Social Sciences for the past 13 years since its inception. The selected candidates are offered an intense, all expenses-paid, 12-week course at the LSE.
Through a combination of closely supervised project work, academic courses, field visits, seminars, debates and interactions with some of today's top public figures, this is a unique opportunity for theses 12 Indian leaders.
The course will run from late September to mid December 2011. It is targeted at mid-career professionals with a minimum of five years work experience, proven academic ability and leadership skills.

The Fulbright-Nehru Master’s fellowships for Leadership Development
The Fulbright-Nehru Master's Fellowships for Leadership Development are designed for aspiring young Indians to pursue a master’s degree programme at selected
US institutions in various areas like Arts and Culture Management including Heritage Conservation and Museum Studies, Communication Studies, Conflict Resolution, Economics, Environment, Public Administration, Urban and Regional Planning, and Women’s Studies.
The programme is for individuals who have completed the equivalent of a US bachelor’s degree, have at least three years professional work experience; these fellowships are for one to two years.
The fellowship will provide the following benefits; A J-1 visa support; round-trip airfare from fellow's home city to the host institution in the US; funding for tuition and fees, living and related costs; and accident and sickness coverage as per US government guidelines.
Those eligible to apply should:
. have completed an equivalent of a US bachelor’s degree from a recognised Indian university with at least 55% marks.
. should either possess a four-year bachelor’s degree or a completed master’s degree, if the bachelor’s degree is of less than four years’ duration;
. have at least three years’ full time (paid or voluntary) professional or work experience relevant to their proposed field of study;
. should not have another degree from a US university or be enrolled in a US degree
The candidate should fall under the age group of 25-30 years.
Application material may be obtained in person from a USIEF office. If making a request by mail, send a self-addressed stamped (R 45) A4 envelope to the USIEF office in your region. Please state your academic/professional qualifications, date of birth, present position, and fellowship category in your request letter.
You can apply for only ONE Fulbright-Nehru fellowship category during a competition cycle.
