Happiness is that elusive state of mind that everybody is looking for but not always achieving it. Here are some ways to make ourselves happier than before, whether at work or in life:

Focus on all that you get to do in a day, instead of all that you ‘have to do’. When we think about ‘having to do something,’ stress hormones take over and drain us. But when we focus on ‘all that we get to do,’ gratitude floods our body and brain with emotions that uplift and energise us.

Remember that happiness is an insider’s job. For example, if you just decide to laugh more often despite what is happening around you, your body will produce more happy hormones.

Give more than you get. When we begin to focus upon what we can give to the world, instead of what we can get from it, our self-worth soars and we feel happy.

Don’t go looking for happiness; just work with passion and purpose, and happiness will find you. Be enthusiastic about whatever you do. Express yourself completely with your entire being and work will never seem mundane.

Concentrate on excellence, instead of success as the latter puts you in a competitive, comparing, envious, and stressful mode. Do your work to the best of your ability and with complete sincerity. Strive for excellence in all that you do. Constantly innovate and improve.

Invest in positive relationships. Get together at least once a week with your friends or family, to share and celebrate each member’s accomplishments and happy moments. Such get-togethers produce great, joyful feelings among all.
