On 1 January 1981, Mother Theresa MC, Nobel Laureate inaugurated the St. Andrew’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce. The college was started when Archbishop Simon Pimenta felt the need for a new Catholic college in the suburbs that would offer courses like BA, BCom and BSc. The first phase of the construction of 18 classrooms of the college was completed in June 1986 and solemnly blessed on St. Andrew’s Feast Day, 30 November 1986.

Subsequently the chapel, the library, the administrative block, the students' common rooms were constructed. Since more rooms were required two new floors with 18 classrooms were added in 2002. The latest addition is the annexe, which was completed in the Jubilee Year 2007 – 2008.

Studies and facilities
The college offers course in Bachelors of Arts, Bachelors of Science, and Bachelors of Commerce, along with BMS (Bachelors of Management Studies) and BMM(Bachelors of Mass Media). The BA and BMM departments are specially known for their experienced faculty.

On the campus
Library: The college library dates back to 1983-84. Approximately 30,000 books are organised subject wise according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System.

Other facilities: The college also has a counselling as well as a placement cell. There is a chapel where mass is held on the first Friday of every month.The college has a basketball court, hockey field and a football field. Just two years ago, a new, bigger and airier canteen, called Café Andre was set up. St. Andrew’s College houses the St. Andrew’s Auditorium, which is used not only for college events but other functions, shows and events as well. There is no hostel facility provided here.
