While the HT Education survey on
highlighted commerce as the most important programme students would like to join, St. Stephen’s College emerged as the top favourite choice of students in both the arts and science streams.
About 42.46%survey participants voted for the college for its quality science programmes. Hindu came second with 22.8%, followed by Hansraj with 20.78% votes and Ramjas with 15.5%. Venkateswara, Miranda and Gargi also got good ratings for science by the participants.
For the arts programmes, St Stephen’s got 32.53% votes. LSR pipped Hindu this time, scoring 30.72% over the latter’s 27.21%. While Miranda got 19.87% votes, Hansraj came next with 18.67%. Jesus and Mary College followed with 12.04% and Ramjas with 11.74%.
Commerce of course was a no-brainer, with Shri Ram College of Commerce scoring well above other DU colleges. It polled 58.73%votes; Hindu got 26.8%; Hansraj scored 26.2%; LSR polled 23.49% votes, followed by Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies and Ramjas College both getting 14.75% votes .
Other colleges were not to be left behind. Colleges with quality programmes that got the top votes were Kirori Mal College with 22.89%. Others that made it to the list included Sri Venkateswara College, Daulat Ram College, Lady Irwin College, Acharya Narendra Dev College; College of Vocational Studies; Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (Morning); Maitreyi College; Motilal Nehru College; and Sri Aurobindo College etc.
