The lowdown
The science of designing instructions to aid the learning process is what instructional designing is all about. Instructional designers create a variety of content/instructions for clients. They require different skills — writing, web design, graphics, collaboration and planning. An ID’s job is to understand the requirements of the client and collect suitable material. After going through the material, they design documents, which cover the relevant topic and field. As IDs, you create learning objectives for the learners. Once the design document is complete, you start working on the storyboard, which is in the PowerPoint format. It is important for an ID to be well-versed with the design principles in order to create a good storyboard.
