Had it not been for a test similar to the Hindustan Times Career Quotient Test being conducted till October 31 this year (in association with Youngbuzz), Anisha Jain would have been studying psychology instead of computer engineering after Class 12. Ask her how the transition from psychology to computer engineering happened and Jain says, “I knew what I was good at, but I needed a second opinion and, therefore, took the test. It had a variety of questions on ‘find the differences’, ‘sequence and series’, ‘arithmetic’, ‘vocabulary’ etc. When I gave the test, I was confused between arts and science because I could get into arts after doing science but I knew that doing the reverse would be difficult. After the test, during my interactions with the counsellors, I told them that despite my confusion what was important to me was that I wanted a well-paying job after college. After giving me a patient hearing and analysing my test, they told me that I had a good aptitude for computer engineering and it would help me get a good job after college. That was it, my mind was made up,” adds she.
The counselling also helped Jain’s sister. “She scored 95% in the Class 10 exams, but instead of science she wanted to take up arts. When the elders in the family had reservations against her decision, she took the test to prove that she had a great aptitude for arts and that her choice was right, says Jain.
“The tests really helped my daughters,” says Simmi, Jain’s mother. “The most surprising bit was the clarity with which the test gives your results and analyses the composition of your mind. I am happy that my daughters are doing well.”
