Taking a cue from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore, Lucknow University (LU) is introducing a 5-year integrated MBA programme from its new academic session. Students who have completed education till class 12 with at least 50% marks or are appearing in the class 12 exams this year are eligible to apply for the course.

The course comprises two degrees, a 3-year graduation degree followed by a 2-year MBA programme. During the last two years of the integrated programme, students will attend the same classes as other MBA students.

The 5-year integrated course will have just 60 seats. It has been designed to tap into young managerial talent. LU has now become the first University in the state to have launched such a course. The varsity’s flagship programme will provide a good level of industry exposure too to the students.

“The 5-year course will equip students with dual degree (BBA + MBA). The pass outs of the programme are expected to be true management professionals with a rigorous management training to back them. During the course, students will also have the option of choosing specialisations like HR, finance and control, international business, and marketing,” said Arvind Mohan, director, Institute of Management Sciences, LU – the umbrella body for all MBA courses in the university.

While there have been integrated courses for law like BA-LLB Hons that is a 5-year programme, there was no such option for management studies in the state, so far. IIM Indore started the initiative a few years ago. “So, we decided to tap into young management students soon after they completed their class 12 examinations,” added Mohan.
