Ravjot Grewal, the Punjab Civil Services (PCS) examination topper in 2014, has secured 109th rank in the Union Public Service Commission’s civil services examination, the results for which were declared on Saturday.

A dentist by qualification, Ravjot is presently posted as sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) at Amloh in Fatehgarh Sahib district.Daughter of an army officer and a schoolteacher, Ravjot cracked the exam in her second attempt.

“Even as I am already into the civil services, it was like a dream come true clearing the UPSC examination,” Ravjot said.

“Even after getting job, I studied consistently and continued preparing for the UPSC’s examination. Finally my hard work and discipline paid off,” she said.

Ravjot did bachelor in dental surgery (BDS) from Army College of Dental Sciences, Hyderabad, and started preparing for civil services while doing her internship.

“Joining the civil services and serving the public with integrity and dedication is my ultimate goal,” she added.

As how she managed between studies and job, Ravjot said she studied five-six hours a day.

“My parents are my inspiration and they always appreciate what I do. They actually helped me in preparing for the civil services mentally,” she said.
