Creativity plays a very important role where fashion design is concerned. If your design is not unique, it’s not going to be looked at, and, therefore, not noticed, and hence not bought. A fashion designer must be sensible to detail and have good presentation and conceptualisation skills as design is an expression of what one thinks, feels and experiences. S/he must be observant and have an open mind. S/he needs to respect people s/he designs for and understand the customers and their needs well. Last but not least, the profession does not have any boundaries like other professions and if you’re a kind of person who is ready to learn and relearn with every new project, there is no better profession than this. Since there are hundreds of brands fighting for shelf space, a fashion designer must keep evolving. As a fashion designer, you will be required to do a various things. From researching newest trends in the industry and creating sample sketches to choosing fabric and making a sensible business model out of the product, you will handle everything. In fashion industry, if your designs get accepted, nothing can stop you

Clockwork
8am: Exercise
9.30am: Start the day in office
10am: Meet with the client; understand his or her product requirements
12.30pm: Lunch
1.30pm: Restart session by researching on the specifications outlined by the client
4pm: Break
5.30pm: Add individual flavour and complete the assigned work
6.30pm: Leave for home
8pm: Check various fashion websites for the latest trends, cuts, fabrics etc
9pm: Dinner
10pm: Sketch
11pm: Go to sleep

The payoff
A fresh graduate joining the industry can expect to earn anywhere between Rs. 15,000 a month to Rs. 40,000 a month. The pay increases as you gain experience. Your pay depends on the company you work for and the acceptability of your design. If your designs get accepted, then the sky is the limit for you as far as money goes
