Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) has decided to make the process of internal assessment more transparent from the coming academic session. “We will be giving a copy each of the attendance sheet and assignments to the students,” said principal P C Jain.

“Students will be given seven days to get back to us with any discrepancy in the marks or the attendance.” This would also include rechecking of the answer scripts, Jain added.

The reform comes after students complained last year that internal assessment, which carries 25 per cent weightage, was not objective. “Once the student sees that each day of lost attendance is costing them marks, they will become more regular in class.

This will also lead to more accountability in teachers, both in terms of marking attendance and checking answer scripts,” Jain said. The college is also adding more classrooms and computers to its infrastructure.

“After the restructured BCom Honours, the use of computers in the classroom will become almost mandatory,” said Jain.
