BJP prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi remains the most-followed Indian politician on Twitter by a wide margin of more than 1.5 million followers, but AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has gained the most, with more than 629,000 new followers in just over three months.

Here’s a look at who are the top stars with the maximum reach, the swiftest movers and the most vocal.

Why Twitter:

Because this microblogging site has emerged as a major campaign-ground for the first time for Lok Sabha elections. All major parties and leaders are using this microblogging platform and other social network sites to reach out to people, especially the young population

Insider’s perspective:

“In the 2009 general elections, only a handful of candidates used Twitter, with parties mostly being absent from the platform. This election, on the contrary, is a Twitter Election. Everyone who needs to be on Twitter is on it. Those who aren't, are missing out at their own cost.”
