A mysterious poster has appeared in Konnagar town of West Bengal at a time when the state government is at loggerheads with the Election Commission.

The poster shows Congress president Sonia Gandhi, accompanied by Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime minister nominee Narendra Modi, trying to unleash a dog on chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who looks unperturbed.

A photograph of Vinod Zutshi, deputy election commissioner in charge of Bengal, has been superimposed on the dog's face.

The only text on the poster says, "Lu... Zutshi...lu (Heel...Zutshi...heel)."

There is no text saying who put up the poster in Konnagar, which is in Hooghly district of south Bengal and around 22km from state capital Kolkata.

The town is under the Serampore Lok Sabha constituency, which will see a four-cornered fight of Trinamool Congress candidate Kalyan Banerjee, CPI(M)'s Tathagata Roy, BJP's Bappi Lahiri and Congress' Abdul Mannan on April 30.

The poster comes close on the heels of Banerjee demanding the removal of Zutshi from Bengal.

The Trinamool Congress is at odds with the EC, which has transferred eight officials including superintendents of police and district magistrates accused of acting in favour of the ruling party.

Banerjee has termed the EC an agent of all her political rivals — the Congress, the BJP and the CPI(M).

Tathagata Roy has alleged only the Trinamool has the "taste" to put up such a poster.

Trinamool's Hooghly district president, Tapan Dasgupta, however, has rubbished the allegations.
