"Top leaders of our party are seized with the matter and may consider action against him," said the former deputy chief minister, while replying to a query whether the BJP leadership would take action against Singh's alleged provocative statement.

Quoting a tweet of party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the former deputy CM said the BJP had already distanced itself from such remarks made either by VHP leader Pravin Togadia or Giriraj Singh.

Dismissing Singh's statement, he said it should not be taken seriously for it was not the official statement of the BJP.

"Only those statements, which are given either by the party president or its spokesman, should be considered as the official version," he said, while addressing newsmen.

When his attention was drawn towards the report that a Jharkhand court has issued a warrant of arrest against Singh, (the remarks were made in Godda), Modi quipped, "Let the law take its own course."

Modi also expressed wonder over the delay being made by the Election Commission in taking action against JD (U) leader Akhtarual Iman for instigating the Muslims to unite against the BJP. Iman was a JD (U) nominee from Kishanganj, who pulled out from the poll fray to prevent a possible split of Muslim votes in the constituency's, where Asrarul Haque, the sitting Congress MP is again in the fray.

The BJP had on Monday, submitted a memorandum to the EC seeking Iman and JD-U's disqualification for arousing communal passion.
