Controversial right-wing leader Pramod Muthalik on Saturday claimed news website Cobrapost's sting on the role of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in the demolition of Babri Masjid was '100% true'.

Muthalik told HT over phone that he was in Ayodhya when the mosque was demolished on December 6, 1992. "And so was Advani (senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani)," the Sri Ram Sene chief said, stirring up a fresh controversy amid apprehensions about the nation voting along communal lines in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Muthalik had hogged the limelight recently after being shown the door by the BJP within hours of his induction into the party. He is no stranger to controversy, though. In 2009, he had led a mob that attacked women in a pub in Mangalore.

A day after Cobrapost made public a report that Advani was in the know and the demolition was not the result of a mob going berserk, Muthalik said he was confused about why the BJP leaders were denying their involvement.

According to him, the strategy was charted and fine-tuned over a period of 10 years.

Muthalik, however, said he did not know anything about the alleged ploy to use dynamite to destroy the mosque. Muthalik also denied reports of special training sessions.

He also alleged the Congress was behind the Cobrapost sting, which was made public three days before the first phase of polling.
