The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday released a "chargesheet" against the UPA government highlighting the Congress' failure during its rule saying it will be remembered as the "most corrupt government of India".

BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad enumerated what he called "chapters" in the chargesheet one by one during a press conference. He was flanked by his collegues Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Nirmala Sitharaman.

"We got 42,000 input through crowd sourcing for the charge sheet," Prasad told reporters.

Prasad read out the first chapter of chargesheet saying there was an attempt to compromise the "dignity and integrity of the office of PM".

"There was a deliberate and conscious devaluation of PM's office by Sonia and Rahul Gandhi," said Prasad.

Prasad said Sonia and Rahul Gandhi wanted power without accountability and Singh acted like CEO of the board.

In the second chapter of the BJP "chargesheet", Prasad accused UPA of destroying the Indian economy.

He said Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are equally guilty of all the ills plaguing the economy of India along with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

He accused unemployment rate has gone up under the UPA saying Chidambaram did not speak truth.

The BJP said the third chapter of the chargesheet against the UPA is an "endless saga of scam and corruption".

"We decided that only scams above Rs. 10,000 crore should be classified as major scams but even then there were multiple scams."

"Congress was never ready to seriously probe any scam. If it weren't for opposition, court, media they wouldn't have investigated," he added.

Congress leader in Maharashtra Ashok Chavan was given a ticket despite tall claims by Rahul Gandhi, he said.

In its fourth chapter of the chargesheet "serious challenge to national security" were highlighted.

Prasad said more than 500 incidents of border violation by China were reported in just last two years.

"We have talked about how fight against terror is being subjected to vote bank politics."

"Delinking talks with terror (in reference to Pakistan) was the biggest failure of UPA," said Prasad while enumerated the fifth chapter which talked about the failure of foreign policy.

The sixth chapter talked about lack of development in the northeast despite the fact the PM is an MP from the region for last 24 years.

"Not a single major industry has been set up in NE, initiative taken by Vajpayee has stopped," he said.

"The only industry flourishing is that of illegal immigration."

The BJP charged the UPA of failing in the education and healthcare sectors saying budget of health care was slashed by over 20%.

The Congress-led UPA undermined institutions and failed to fulfill the promised made in the 2009 manifesto, according to BJP.

"This government is a failure on all fronts," said Prasad.

"UPA's legacy is that of suffering, insecure, distressed and depressed India."
