Sridevi couldn’t have asked for a grander celebration on her 50th birthday. The gala bash, which was held on August 18 at a south Mumbai club, was also a commemoration of sorts of the veteran actor’s achievements throughout her film career.

To make the party all the more special for Sridevi, husband Boney Kapoor put together some of the best scenes from her films and had them played at the bash.

According to a guest, there was a big screen inside the venue which played the montage on loop. Apparently, Sridevi had no clue about this. “When she entered the party, she was already overwhelmed by the grand arrangement. And when she saw the film medley, she was visibly stunned,” says a source.

This wasn’t all; the interiors of the venue were decorated with her photos from different phases of her career.

When contacted, Ankit Rawat, owner, Club Alibii, where the party was held, confirms the news. “Mr Boney Kapoor wanted to surprise Srideviji, so he came up with this idea of putting together important scenes from her films. It was great fun. Srideviji was amazed when she saw this.”

The star-studded party was attended by almost all the big names from the film fraternity, along with a few politicians.

Besides family members Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, eminent guests seen at the party included Rishi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Vinod Khanna, Sushmita Sen, Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh, Lara and Mahesh Bhupathi, Shilpa Shetty, Juhi Chawla and Yuvraj Singh. External affairs minister Salman Khurshid was present too.
