William Shakespeare once said: ‘Women speak two languages — one of which is verbal.’
If you don’t want her to use (harsh) language skills on you, then we must remind you that it’s Women’s Day tomorrow. If not a gift, you should at least remember to wish that special woman in your life before she figures out that you have forgotten about the special day.
HT City spoke with a few men who have plans for ‘that special woman’ in their lives, and others who thanked us of reminding them about Women’s Day.
“I am not working the day after Women’s Day, so I plan to make a delicious dinner for my wife. She likes fish, so I will cook fish and will also get a cake for her,” says Rip Kumar Saikia.
Puneet Kumar, 23, a graphic designer, says, “I didn’t know that it’s Women’s Day tomorrow, but now that I do, I will call to wish both my mom and sister.”
“Women like to be pampered. Because they are particular about such days, an expression of love by doing little things matters a lot and also deepens the bonding. For instance, taking your woman — be it your mom, sister, wife or girlfriend... out for dinner, treating them with gifts or just simple things like buying flowers or writing a sweet note to let them know how special they are — means a lot to them,” says psychiatrist Sanjay Chugh.
Just for her
While there are men like Saikia and Kumar who have elaborate plans for the special women in their lives, there are others who do not like the idea of raising a toast to women.
“I protest this day,” says 28-year-old Deb, an advertising professional, “because there is no Men’s Day. I don’t see any point why I should celebrate Women’s Day. Had there been a dedicated day when my woman could gift me, too, I would have been glad to reciprocate.”
Well, all those men who are jealous that there’s no Men’s Day, like Deb, should take heart and at least wish the women in their life. After all, you never know — there could be a Men’s Day featuring on calendars soon!
