Last year, Aamir Khan successfully threw light on numerous social issues India faces by showcasing them on his show, Satyamev Jayate. Since then, the actor has been bombarded with offers to talk on such subjects at various events and platforms.
According to a source, for the last few months, Aamir has been inundated with calls inviting him to speak at government schools and colleges across the country. The educational institutions have been vying for the actor’s time on Republic Day.
For about three months now, he has been getting requests from these government establishments to come and chat with their students on January 26. The authorities want him to address some social issues and discuss solutions and dealing methods with the youth, says a source, adding,After Satyamev Jayate and the impact the show had, a lot of people have started perceiving Aamir differently. He is looked up to as a youth icon now, which is why the schools and colleges thought he would be the best person to talk to the students.
However, the actor has had to refuse all the offers that have been coming his way. The source says, He will not be able to attend any of the functions on Republic Day as he will be going to Ahmednagar for the inauguration of Satyamev Jayate Bhawan.
An NGO titled Snehalaya, which works on women’s issues at the grass-roots level, is honouring Aamir Khan later this month. They have named their first centre Satyamev Jayate Bhawan. Aamir was impressed with their work and that is why he has decided to inaugurate it, says the source.
