Aamir Khan is reconsidering his decision to resign from the Copyright Panel set up by HRD Minister Kapil Sibal shortly after the superstar was asked by him to continue as a member, sources close to the actor said tonight.
The sources said an announcement in this regard is expected to made by Aamir soon.
actor had resigned from the 10-member committee set up by Sibal to suggest changes in the 53-year-old Copyright Act, following reported differences with lyricist Javed Akhtar.
Sibal had earlier in the day told reporters that seven other members of the panel, including Akhtar, had written to him, saying they would like the actor to continue in the committee.
Sibal said he has spoken to Aamir about the letter of the members on the issue.
"I have told Aamir that they are not questioning your integrity and you should withdraw your resignation. He said he will consider it," the minister said. Two days after the formation of the committee, Aamir wrote to Sibal, saying he is opting out of the panel as he was publicly being attacked by some people.
"It seems to me that there is an attempt by certain people to attack me in public by printing lies about me, thereby turning the attention away from a genuine debate about copyright issues," the 44-year-old Bollywood actor had said in his letter.
