“I am extremely happy. I am the proud father of a baby girl now. By God’s grace, both my wife and daughter are healthy. We are all looking forward to going home soon,” says an excited Akshay, adding that the newest member of his family resembles his wife, Twinkle, and mother-in-law, Dimple Kapadia.

The 45-year-old, who tied the knot 11 years ago, was in a jovial mood. “I don’t mind staying in the hospital also; I quite like the food here,” he says, laughing. “But on a serious note, I’m excited. I want to take my family home, safe and sound.”

Ask him how their 10-year-old son Aarav reacted to the news and he adds, “He can’t wait to take on the role and responsibilities of a big brother.”

Akshay, who was in Jaipur on Monday promoting his next, Oh My God!, rushed back to the city and arrived late at night to be by Twinkle’s side. “He was in the middle of a special screening when he got the news. But when he informed everyone why he had to leave, they all wished him their best,” says an insider.

Maharani Padmini Devi of Jaipur and various other politicians from Rajasthan were present at the screening. "Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was also expected to arrive, but Akshay took his private jet at around 11 pm and reached Mumbai by 12.30 am," adds the insider.
