Although Sonam Kapoor has worked with Ranbir Kapoor in Saawariya (2007) and Abhishek Bachchan in Delhi 6 (2009) in the past, it’s her on-screen pairing with Imran Khan in I Hate Luv Storys (IHLS) that got the actor her first hit. And since she’s already getting great feedback on her chemistry with Abhay Deol in the trailers of her next, Aisha, Kapoor is looking at repeating the ‘magic’.
“Abhay and Imran are among my most favourite people in the industry,” she says. “Abhay and I complete each other. We are both strong-minded, have similar personalities, and have this friction and palpable chemistry in both real life and on screen. We are so alike.” Deol would often tease her saying that she’d turn out to be his exact copy in a few years. The actor comments that during the making of Aisha, she struck up an "amazing friendship" with her co-star Deol, in the same way she had with Khan during IHLS. "And that’s why, both Abhay and I, as well as Imran and I, are trying to figure out scripts where we could work together as on-screen couples," Kapoor says. "But the films don’t necessarily have to be romantic comedies. We are looking at all kinds of genres."
She adds that her on-screen romance with both the actors was “very special”, but stresses that Aisha is, in no way, similar to IHLS. Kapoor says, “In Aisha, the love story is interesting because of the dynamics of the entire group of six-seven people, while in IHLS, it was only about the two main characters.”
