Hollywood actors Colin Firth and Hugh Grant have raised $88,000 for charity by re-igniting their on-screen rivalry in a real life battle, offering bids for an appearance in the next Bridget Jones movie. The two actors, who battle to in the movie for Jones’s affection, played by actor Renee Zellweger, put their rivalry to good use at a fund raising event in London, reported Contactmusic.
Grant put in an opening bid of $16,000 for a walk-on part in the third movie. Firth, who bagged this year’s Best Actor Oscar, then began to out-run his rival by bidding higher, until an unknown bidder won the lot at $88,000. The amount collected will be given to broadcaster Mariella Frostrup’s ‘Gender Rights and Equality Action Trust (Great)’ initiative, which aims to create gender equality in developing countries.
