They have moved beyond the world of soaps, fairness creams, tea and fashion clothing. The B-town biggies have discovered the might of the home décor industry and are tapping it to the fullest.

Saif Ali Khan was the first with his ads with sister Soha Ali Khan for Asian Paints Royale. Then came along Bipasha Basu launching a new range of products for the bathroom brand, Kohler and is now the face of another home furnishing brand, Dicitex.

SRK- GauriShah Rukh Khan too, has joined the bandwagon and is the brand ambassador of a home furnishing label, D’décor with wife Gauri. He is also selling the eco-friendly paints brand, Nerolac. Sukhpreet Singh of Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd says, "SRK is one of the most credible personalities in the country today and his image, persona fit into Nerolac’s brand values and beliefs."

On the other hand, "Bipasha brings youthfulness to our brand," says Nimish Arora of Dicitex Furnishings.

BRChanging perceptions

Homes and its decoration are aspirations and dreams that filmstars only symbolise. So, as long as it is the dream girl or the dream guy in the ad campaign, it works. Singh adds, "Our brand is about transformation, leadership, style, healthy and beautiful home environment, concern for family and better future for our children. SRK personifies these values."

Similarly, Arora says, “Bipasha is a leading Indian commercial actress with hit movies to her credit. We want to revolutionise the home furnishing market and we wanted a dream girl like her to sell it.”
