The tale of Adnan Sami’s troubled marriage has taken a very ugly turn, with his wife Sabah Galadhari accusing him and his friend Pooja Bedi of assaulting her. What’s more, Sabah has filed a complaint against Adnan under Section 498 (cruelty to a woman).
HT City spoke to Pooja and she had a lot to say. The fracas, she says, took place at Adnan’s home. This is how she tells it: “Adnan’s mother had to fly back to Islamabad to bury her father, who passed away last week. Adnan could not go, as he needed to look after his father, who is suffering from pancreatic cancer. I was in constant touch with him and realised that he hadn’t slept a wink in almost 50 hours. I offered to watch over his dad so Adnan could get some sleep. I was sitting on the sofa and reading while Adnan and his dad slept, when Sabah barged in with her friend Lin, both brandishing their cell phone cameras at me on record mode.”
Sabah yelled and turned violent. “She spotted my cell phone on the sofa and lunged at it,” says Pooja. “I grabbed it, and she scratched me on my arm, leaving two long, deep scratches. Then she started screaming, ‘Oh, my God! She assaulted me, she assaulted me!!!’ I was shell-shocked. I told her I was still sitting on the sofa and hadn’t moved since she had entered… She had assaulted me, and was trying to save her skin!”
Verbal abuse against her family and “ridiculous and disgusting allegations” followed, Pooja says. Apparently, Sabah made the obscene gesture of exposing her breast to show what she thought of Pooja’s dress sense. “Her actions almost seemed deranged,” she says.
Finally, Pooja called the cops and showed them the scratches. She also asked them to check Sabah’s phone, which had been recording all this while, for proof. “She panicked and pretended she could not run the footage,” Pooja says. “I truly wish them a speedy recovery from the cancer called Sabah in their lives.”
While Sabah was unavailable, HT City spoke to Adnan’s brother Junaid. Adnan is very “disturbed and humiliated” that Sabah had “dishonoured” his guest, says Junaid. “Pooja and Adnan are family friends. Sabah’s behaviour is unacceptable.” Adnan will file a counter-complaint, says Junaid, pressing “a charge of harassment.”
