Apart from being his favourite holiday destination, India has become like a “second home” for R&B artiste Akon. So much so, that he now plans to buy a house in the country.
“I may purchase a home in India. I feel connected to the culture here,” says the Senegalese-American singer, who will be spending a lot of time in the country collaborating with artistes in the near future.

, apart from numerous others to his credit, also has acting on his mind, but for now he “will be exploring collaborations with AR Rahman, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam and Rahul Sharma.”
Akon also plans to introduce his clothesline, Konvict, in India. “I may launch Konvict here along with my mineral water brand, Aliaune,” says the singer, who most probably will join designer-friend Neeta Lulla for his designer line. “She is a good friend, but I still need to work out the logistics.”
However, actor-friend Suniel Shetty isn’t aware of Akon’s plans to buy property in the country. “I have a real estate business, so I’ll help him out, but he hasn’t spoken to me about this yet,” says Suniel, whose wife, Mana, is the chief promoter of the NGO, Save The Children. Akon, too, runs the non-profit organisation called Konfidence.
“We may work together for our charity endeavours,” says Suniel, “Akon is focused about giving back to society. We’re working out what we can together do for children.”
