Akshay Kumar, who is best known for doing his stunt scenes on his own without using any doubles, recently had a rather close shave. The actor could have been killed in his last stunt which required him to battle with alligators.

The actor was performing the stunt in Malaysia for an advertisement for a cola. The concept of the ad was to show the khiladi fighting alligators to rescue his cola.

The unit, accompanied by the crocodile trainers, started shooting early one morning in the jungles of Gopeng Perak.

Akshay was to go white water rafting, jump down from the raft into the river, dodge the crocs and swim to safety, reported Mid Day.

Akshay Kumar"When he jumped into the water the crocs were at a safe distance. However, something happened, and one of the reptiles lunged towards the actor," a source told the tabloid.

The actor reportedly froze a split second but then quickly recovered himself, turned around, grabbed the raft and quickly swung onto it and started rowing away as fast as he could till he reached a place of safety.

Fortunately, the actor did not have to re-shoot the sequence. Akshay has been known for his bravado and after fighting sharks, the actor almost fought alligators this time! That's what we call the real Khatron Ka Khiladi.

Incidentally, the actor is planning to set a record by completing 12 years with the cola company for the longest-serving celebrity endorsement.

It's a good thing that the actor had a good presence of mind, or who knows what could have happened. Well, guess they call the actor Khiladi Kumar for a reason!
