When Akshay Kumar flew off to Delhi on Friday, little did he know that he’d have to rush back the following morning. He had scheduled a flurry of activities over two days for his forthcoming production, Patiala House, but ended up completing them all in a day. The reason? His son Aarav wanted him to attend the parent-teacher meet in his school, École Mondiale, on Saturday.
Not one to disappoint his son, Akshay apparently got co-producer Bhushan Kumar and director Nikhil Advani to rescheduled their activities, despite the fact that they were taking place in different parts of the Capital, and would require the actor to negotiate through traffic to make it on time.
New travel plan in place, Akshay first headed to Essar Mall, Faridabad, where he was interacting with the public. Predictably, the place was so packed with people that the actor himself struggled to reach the platform. “There was so much commotion that a girl of about six years, who wanted to reach Akshay, was being crushed by the crowd. She was about to fall when he saw her and lifted her up in the nick of time. He asked one of the security guys to reunite her with her family,” recalls a friend of the actor.
Thankfully, no other incident happened at any of the venues, though the actor ended up driving around the city thrice before he could reach the airport to fly back to Mumbai. But that too was easier said than done as he missed his flight, and had to wait a couple of hours before he could board the midnight flight.
Needless to say, Aarav was thrilled to see his dad keep his word. On his part, Akshay remains nonchalant about his dramatic day. “Although I had to rush through an extremely eventful day, I’m glad it ended well,” he smiles. “I fulfilled my responsibilities towards Patiala House and also got to see my son’s smiling face,” he enthuses.
No less amazed by Akshay’s time management are Bhushan and Advani. “It’s not easy balancing your personal life and work, but Akshay is a thorough professional and does it perfectly,” observes Bhushan.
