Sayali Bhagat recently faced a spot of trouble a public relations agency circulated fake press releases on her, alleging that Amitabh Bachchan and rape-accused actor Shiney Ahuja sexually harassed her. The model-turned-actor, who lodged a complaint with the Mumbai police, is relieved that Bachchan doesn’t have any angst against her and has sought legal recourse against this cyber crime.
"I have exchanged mails with him, and he understands that some third party is involved. He took it to the police from his side as well. He has filed another complaint," says Sayali, adding, "I even spoke to some other actors, and they all understand that I have been victimised."
For Shiney, this was the second accusation of sexual harassment. He is yet to be cleared of charges that he raped his maid, but the actor has sorted out the issue with Sayali. The duo is acting opposite each other in Puja Jatindar Bedi’s upcoming directorial debut, Ghost.
Sayali, who has been struggling to create a foothold for herself in the industry, fails to understand why she’s been targeted. "It was a deliberate attempt to either taint my image or others’ reputations. They are taking the police lightly as well, as these cases take time," says the actor, adding, "I’ve never spoken to anyone to represent me. This agency and the people behind it are involved in other cyber crimes as well. I really don’t know why I was targetted. The Mumbai police are on the case now."
Ask why she reserved comments so long after the news was circulated and Sayali says, "I was not speaking about it so far as I was waiting for the film to finish."
