Highlight Story

A city hotel has decided to have Santarina, dressed in fluffy white minis, a short red coat and high boots, to give away the goodies to their guests.

Sheena Arora, 23, an event manager, who is playing Santarina at Hotel Parkland Retreat in Chhattarpur, says, “It’s a unique concept and yes kids and adults look at me with surprise because they are not used to seeing a girl Santa. It’s so much fun.” Though there is not much mention of any Santarina in the folklore, Manoj Thapa, Sr General Manager of the hotel says, “It’s an urban legend. Santarina is supposedly Santa’s relative, Father Frost’s daughter and used to help him pack gifts.”

Other hotels in town have not caught on to the concept. Ashwini Anand, Executive Astt Manager Taj Palace says, “We have not heard about Santarina. It may be a good gimmick but we’d rather not endorse anything imaginary.” Devraj Halder from The Suryaa hotel says, “A girl- Santa is just to add the glam factor.”
