Actress Angelina Jolie, who is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations, is appealing for donations to the flood relief effort in Pakistan.
The 35-year-old beauty and her partner Brad Pitt are preparing to hand over a chunk of their fortune to help those affected by the floods and she is hoping fans will follow her lead,
"I think as people completely understand the scale of it they will do more. I know that we've been talking to different people about where to put our money - who to give it to and when. I think maybe people are ready to give money... hopefully they're just waiting to understand what's the best thing to do," Jolie said.
As the death toll in the country reaches more than 2,000, World Bank has announced plans to loan USD 900 million to fund relief in flood-ravaged Pakistan.
Aid has been slow to reach Pakistan, which is struck by its worst floods in 80 years and fears are growing of contracting diarrhoea, dysentery and other illnesses.
