Anne Hathaway originally wanted to be a nun instead of an actress, it has been revealed.

The revelation was made while Russell Crowe was presenting an award to the 30-year-old actress at the 15th annual Costume Designer Guild.

"Then she found out they actually require you to wear underpants when they go out at night," the Daily Telegraph quoted him as jokingly saying.

Crowe was referencing to the unfortunate mishap that happened at the Les Miserables premiere in New York when Hathaway accidentally flashed herself getting out of a car.

Getting serious, Crowe said that Hathaway ditched the idea as she decided she couldn't fully accept the church that wouldn't accept her gay brother.
