Kamal Hassan's big budget movie Viswroop will premier on the DTH platform at 9.30pm on January 10, 2013, a day ahead of its release in theatres.
Ignoring boycott threat from theatre owners, the superstar known for his out of the box ideas when it comes different aspects of film making and, now distribution, he signed with five DTH players - Airtel, Vediocon, Dish TV, Reliance and Sun DTH.
At a crowded press conference in Chennai on Friday, the superstar hoped that "this pioneering venture would add a new dimension to the movie industry."
He has also taken care of video piracy and pirates.
Viswaroop has the state of the art technology that protects its from piracy.
"New avenues offered by technology must be put in use," Kamal Hassan he said in response to a question whether the traditional theatre owners were right in opposing his new idea.
Trailer of this Tamil-Hindi bilingual film has become popular on the net. Filmed in US and Canada, the movie is directed by Kamal Hassan and features Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose and Andrea Jeremiah and music is composed by the trio Shankar, Ehsan and Loy.
Viswaroop is also the first ever Indian film to have Auro 3D sound format that promises to give a new experience to the viewers.
