Imagine being woken up and thrown into the chilly waters of the Ganges, as people chant Holi hai! That is exactly what’s in store for 50 odd people who have signed up for it. Ganga Panga is a group of rafting and travel enthusiasts that customise these trips every few weeks. They started a Holi special in 2008 in Rishikesh, Uttaranchal packed with lots of water splashing activities in combination with holi and rafting specific games. You could join them by the river too. They have a three-day package (Saturday to Monday) priced at Rs 6,700 per adult (inclusive of food, stay and rafting). Call 9810783705 for details

Holi Cow: music+ madness

This was Delhi’s most sought after and well-attended Holi fest last year. Holi Cow promises an eclectic set of live music and even a sundown party to wear off your hangover. They have a host of good acts playing this time too. The list includes MenWhoPause, Them Clones, Aaron James, Reggae Rajahs, Bass Foundation, MoCity, Suchet Malhotra, Jazmin, Babylon Extension and folk music from India and Europe. There’s sure to be plenty of colour, foam pools, spinklers and tents. The poolside stage will be dedicated to genres such as Electronica and Hip-Hop and the main stage will host the rockers and world musicians. (Entry by invitation, call 9313332103/ 9811729886; Address Holi Cow Barn, Chattarpur.)

The grand Holi bash

DJ Aqueel is clearly the highlight of this one. Groups of 10-plus get customised gazebos, with a private bar and butler, while the others get cabana style seating. Paint me like I am

Rain dance to Holi beats is what this party promises. Lots of Holi food, pichkaris (water pistol), thandai (spiked milk beverage) and dhols! DJ Golz will be playing Bollywood hits and Organic Pulse will take care of the House and electronica enthusiasts. Inflated pool, buckets of water and colours on the house. Genda phool holi

Do your bit for the environment as you celebrate. They say ‘plant genda phool’ (marigold), play genda phool, spread genda phool, love and greenery.’ Expect all your eco friendly fare here with pure gulal and also something called a genda phool gulal. Expect some interesting flower arrangements home made wet and dry colours and food. (For venue and registration details, contact 41764054. Address: Sainik Farms; 9 am to 5 pm.)
