Filmmaker Aparna Sen’s father, Chinanda Dasgupta (89), who was a noted film critic, passed away on Sunday night after a brief illness.
Filmmaker Aparna Sen’s father, Chinanda Dasgupta (89), who was a noted film critic, passed away on Sunday night after a brief illness. He was suffering with acute broncho-pneumonia and Parkinson’s disease.
He’s survived by his daughter and grand-daughter Konkona Sen Sharma, who is married to actor Ranvir Shorey. He had founded the Calcutta Film Society along with filmmakers Satyajit Ray and Hari Sadhan Dasgupta and has directed a few films including Amodini and Bilet Pherot.
