What if these guys didn’t burn tyres on the track, they still sent the glamour shooting on Saturday night at the Indian Grand Prix. Actors Preity Zinta, Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone were among those who showed up at two different official Formula One parties in the city, even as Shah Rukh Khan decided to skip the action on the penultimate day.
While Deepika played hide-n-seek with lensmen, Preity and Imran, along with his wife Avantika, made appearances on the red carpet. Romanian music star Edward Maya pumped up the music and said he was “very excited to play in India.”
“I used to watch F1 every Sunday as a kid. It is a coming-of-age moment for India as host,” said Preity, who was at Arjun Rampal’s party at LAP at the Buddh International Circuit.
When Imran Khan, who turned up at the Amber Lounge at The Claridges, Surajkund, was asked about his favourite F1 WAG, he played safe by saying, “I don’t know,” before quickly walking up to his wife.
No Indian event can be devoid of drama, and this one had a share of its own. On Saturday, a young man clad in a grey shirt and black trousers, claiming to be a relative of a prominent UP politician, revved up his Lamborghini right next to the entrance of Amber Lounge and shouted abuses at foreigners as some of his friends were denied entry to the party. “This is our country, go back m***** f*****s,” he yelled, while security pled with him to stop.
Sources say this is what put off Deepika Padukone and Sidhartha Mallya, who were to make an appearance at the same time, from coming on to the red carpet.
