It was the Bachchans’ day out in Delhi on Monday. While actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were in the Capital to attend daughter Shweta Nanda’s father-in-law’s 70th birthday, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her first public appearance in the city after her delivery last year. The actor’s 11-month-old daughter Aaradhya accompanied her on the visit. This was the baby’s first trip to the capital. While Ash, Aaradhya and Bachchan Senior arrived on the same flight in the afternoon, Jaya arrived earlier.
Ash, who walked the ramp at an event, made a dramatic entry as the Shillong Choir Group sang Pretty Woman. As mommy Ash sizzled on the ramp in a black fitted Dior gown and a short D&G jacket, Aaradhya slept in the hotel room. Ash giggled when a cameraperson shouted to the organisers, ‘Boss, light toh do! (Shine the spotlight on her).’
The 38-year-old thanked her “well wishers” for their support, a term Amitabh Bachchan uses for his fans. “I know you call them fans, but I call them well-wishers,” she said. The actor, who was last seen in the 2010 film Guzaarish, later said that she will be back on the silver screen.
“There are offers and I am reading scripts,” she said, adding that “motherhood is a blessing and a beautiful experience.” The actor also wished star couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor on their wedding. “Congratulations on the wedding. It is a joyous occasion for them and their family,” she said.
After the event, the actor went to the Bachchan family’s Gulmohar Park residence from where they went to Shweta’s house.
