After Tahir Hussain’s demise last year on February 2, Aamir Khan’s mother Zeenat relocated to Bandra to stay with her son last Tuesday, December 28. She had shifted with her husband to Pune almost 15 years ago.

It’s learnt that for quite a few years, Khan had been coaxing his mother to relocate back to Mumbai but she preferred to stay back, closer to her married daughter and family.

AamirOur well-placed source states that Khan was worried about his mother staying alone after his father’s demise although his sister Nikhat stays a few minutes’ drive away.

Eventually, Zeenat decided to move in with her actor-filmmaker son on his fifth wedding anniversary. “Aamir couldn’t have asked for a better gift on his big day,” says our source.

The actor, we’ve been informed, was so thrilled that he even cancelled the post-production work for Dhobi Ghat.
Coincidentally, Khan also had their apartment on the third floor redone in good time. He personally ensured that his mother and her requirements were looked into.

Wife Kiran Rao took charge of the preparation to welcome her mother-in-law. She even organised a sumptuous lunch.

Initially, Khan had planned to take time off and spend his fifth wedding anniversary and New Year with Kiran at their Panchgani bungalow. But since he was dubbing for Dhobi Ghat in Hindi, he cancelled the plans.

As a housewarming gesture, the couple will be moving in at the third floor home, to spend quality time with Zeenat. The family celebrated the New Year together with Khan’s cousins who had come to Mumbai with his mother.

When contacted, Khan confirmed, “Kiran and I have shifted to my mother’s house.”
