Controversy seems to be Veena Malik's second name. As she accepted herself in an interview to Hindustan Times a few years back, it just comes naturally to her. Just when you thought that the actor, who is now mother to tiny tot Abram, is all settled with her husband, the news has come out that she has been sentenced to 26 years in prison.

An anti-terror court in Pakistan sentenced her and husband Asad Bashir Khan Khattak for being part of mock wedding on TV as a religious song was playing in the background. She has been sentenced along with Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, owner of Geo and Jang group, and TV presenter Shaista Wahidi.

However, as reported by news channels, verdicts by courts in the Gilgit-Baltistan region don’t apply in the rest of the country as it isn’t considered a full-fledged province by Pakistan.

Even as developments are expected in the case, here's looking at earlier controversies she has been embroiled in.

1 Veena was romantically linked with Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Asif. It was the acrimonious end of this affair which led her to enter Bigg Boss 4. Asif was later sentenced to jail in Britain for match fixing.

2 Bigg Boss 4 brought her notoriety as well as a lot of popularity. While in the house, she and Ashmit Patel started an affair which turned quite steamy as the show progressed. As their intimate moments were telecast in our drawing rooms, the clerics in Pakistan were not amused. She started receiving death threats and negative responses online. The actor, however, remained unfazed.

3 Veena Malik's nude photoshoot on FHM magazine led her family to disown her. While the magazine said Veena posed nude on her own, she alleged that photoshop was done on her images. She also filed a court case against the magazine. Some claimed that the controversy was entirely fabricated. In one picture, she posed with a bomb and ISI written on her shoulder.

4 Her vitriolic outburst on a Pakistani television channel, where she slammed a religious scholar for accusing her of insulting her country and Islam did not win her any friends either.

5 After an anti-India tweet appeared on her handle, Veena accused her former Indian manager, Prashant Singh, of blackmailing her and hacking into her Twitter and her Facebook accounts. The manager, meanwhile, claimed that they were lovers and were living in together when the actor upped and left and got married to Khattar.
