So you thought you would be watching pornography without anyone getting to know what you're watching? Think again. And guess who's watching, the porn site itself!

Bizarre as it may seem, but popular pornography website youporn.com has been accused of 'history sniffing'. In fact, two Californian men David Pitner and Jared Reagan, have filed a class-action lawsuit over the site's practice of 'history sniffing,' or checking out other porn websites that visitors have been to, through exploiting a Javascript security flaw, reported Forbes.

YoupornThe suit accuses YouPorn and the other sites of "impermissibly accessing [users'] browsing history" and seeks class-action status. The lawsuit alleges that the porn websites broke California computer and consumer protection laws, as well as "violat[ed] Plaintiffs' privacy interests."

How does the website do this?

Youporn plants certain trackers which check whether your browser has already visited certain sites by seeing if they are assigned the colour purple (the colour that tells you that you've already clicked on a link).

Interestingly, Youporn has secured its own site from history sniffing and ever since the site's sniffing has been exposed, Youporn has discreetly disabled its history sniffing code.
