Bipasha Basu believes that workouts need not be drab. “I’m sure all of us can look great while we are working out,” Basu asserts, as she gears up to launch her first range of workout wear, followed by a Fall/ Winter line in September.

“And this line of clothing is meant to do just that. I’m not one of those celebs who shoots an ad film, collects her payment and moves out of the studio. I am in the business of health and I wanted it to be fashionable. So, it’s my initiative with my pet brand, Reebok.” Two more fitness and workout videos as extensions of BB Love Yourself are in the pipeline too.

Basu’s next fitness video is expected to be on the shelves in the next couple of months and is expected to be as cost-effective as the first. “Not everyone can afford gymming. But regular exercise is a must, especially if you are into sedentary jobs. So, when I received positive feedback, I was sure that the sequels would click too. They will take the exercise routine a couple of levels higher,” promises Basu.

Negative criticism
Negative criticism for BB Love Yourself doesn’t deter her. “Whenever you do something new, there will be detractors. My video was foolproof, including the camera angles to show the postures correctly. The video copies have sold like hot cakes. So, if someone has decided to badmouth it without even trying the exercises, it’s his or her problem, not mine,” Basu retorts.

So, is opening a gym in the offing for the actress who loves training and working out? Basu laughs, “I’ll have to quit acting for that. It’s a full-time job that, at some point, I’d love to do. But for now, acting is my focus.”

Basu says that maintaining a body is a bigger pressure for men than women in Bollywood: “Everyone from Shah Rukh Khan to Aamir Khan is getting into fitness regimes. But women have always been fit while juggling other jobs, and are usually fitter than men. Actually, I’m keen to see how the Bollywood boys take charge of their bodies when they have to reduce and put on weight in consecutive films.”
