Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s recent proposal that driving licences, passports and other government facilities will not be given to those found guilty of molesting women, or committing similar crimes against women, has met with a lot of cheer across the country.
While youngsters have come out in full support of this proposal on social networking sites, women from Bollywood feel that not only should this proposal be implemented, it should be replicated across India.
Actor and social activist Gul Panag says, “Why just driving licence and passport, why not ration card and the right to vote or the right to any public facility for an offence like this? Also, it should encompass other criminal offences as well. Law makers should make sure that it’s implemented.”
Filmmaker Ekta Kapoor says it’s a very good move, “It should be implemented, and other states should follow.”
Anchor and VJ Archana Vijaya, adds, “I think it’s a very positive and progressive stand which will send out a strong message to miscreants to behave or be punished, it should be applicable all across India.”
