In a unique partnership of sorts, actor Ajay Devgn recited words written by veteran writer, poet and lyricist Gulzar.

Ajay lent his voice to an ode to women that was played at the opening of an awards ceremony for women, Stree Shakti Awards, recently. The event will be aired on television sometime next week.

The lines go as follows: ‘Stree surya ki shakti hai, suraj roshni deta hai... suraj ki ek bindiya apne maathe par lekar chalti hai’.

One of the organisers of the function, Vikas Gulati, confirms the news, saying, "We have been fortunate to get support from some of the most respected people in our country. Gulzar saab has been kind enough to give the ceremony its anthem. To add to it, Ajay has given it his voice. The experience for us is truly overwhelming, and we are extremely grateful to them for it."

The awards function celebrates women achievers. Smruti Shinde, daughter of home minister Sushilkumar Shinde, has joined hands with Gulati for this award.

She says, "I am very proud of what women are doing. I have learnt about so many fascinating stories while working on this project. It is truly inspiring for me. This has been a much-awaited event."
