Siddharth Anand's Bang Bang has just begun its shoot in Abu Dhabi, the capital of United Arab Emirates, and which till recently seemed an unlikely choice for a film locale.
The film is said to be the first Bollywood movie to be shot in this Emirate.
Bang Bang, which is being produced by India's Fox Star Studios and Abu Dhabi's Twofour 54 (part of the Media Zone Authority), is a remake of Knight and Day, starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.
Actor Hrithik Roshan
will essay the role Cruise played while Katrina Kaif
will step into Diaz's role.
And with Andy Armstrong (Thor, Spiderman) as the action director, Bang Bang is sure to knock the anticipated 50 million viewers (worldwide) into a high.
It is supposed to open in 4,500 screens across the world on October 2, 2014 – and may even be part of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival.
Abu Dhabi which for long had been overshadowed by the more popular, more stylish and swankier Dubai, is fast emerging as an impressive cultural hub in the Gulf, with the Louvre coming in and an interesting movie festival every October that attracts an array of international talent.
Obviously, with such credentials, Abu Dhabi has caught the eye of Bollywood, which is forever looking for virgin spots to unspool its emotionally-rich stories.
